The last time we talked you gave me a list of to do’s and I have done them all.  I have practiced my slide presentation – actually held (2) client appreciation dinners to celebrate my 20 years in business where I presented the dinner seminar to 30 clients and several guests per meeting.  I have listened to the CD’s on appointments.  I am registered for the June 9-11 Allianz meeting.   I have been on most of the Monday calls and I believe I need to have a coaching session each week until boot camp in July.  I have 20 appts scheduled  in May & June with existing clients for reviews and I scheduled 2 new appts.  I also met a rep at one of our JNL meetings and have invited him to find out about RMG.   How should I approach this – I am meeting him for lunch next week....  My prayer is that I can write new business to get my seminars going again.  I would love to qualify for the inner circle program even this year.  I have to do SOMETHING MAJOR – NOW. I am going to sit in the teachers lounge at several schools this week if the principals will let me – to get as many new prospects scheduled as I can.  I am open for any other suggestions.  Would you be available this week for a coaching call?  Let me know a good time so I can block it out.

I wanted to give you an 18 month update.  I have been with RMG now for that long and I am noticing that all aspects of the RMG system have gelled.  In my last seminar I was able to book appointments with 18 out of 21 family units for a total percentage of 86%.  My response rate on the mailing was 1.3%.  I have noticed that almost everyone is bringing in all the things I asked for at the seminar for the first appointment.  I would say I am at 95% for bringing for people bringing in all their "financial stuff." 

Oh, another huge point, I have had only two cancellations out of those 18 appointments to that is less than a 15% no show rate for appointments.  I have also experienced the 3 appointment  process working like magic. The process seems to give the people sitting across from the table confidence in me. I have to admit I still fight the urge to use old sales techniques, but I have been able to resist that urge lately and stick with the program.... and it is working.

I guess this shows that if you just stick with the RMG program it will work for you.  It has taken me this long to really feel totally confident in all aspects of the program but now I can begin to see how Craig could do the amazing numbers that he did for so long.  And even more significant, I can see how I could actually achieve a level of production that I would have thought totally unreachable only 18 months ago.

This system is so integrated and tight that even when you beat it around, it still works.

I took a cruise between my 2nd and 3rd appointments. Then, I broke my ankle on the cruise. I had to postpone all the 3rdappointments for 2 weeks and 70% still came in! I have already closed 3 deals for $300,000 and have 3 more pending that I believe will close. That will be $600,000 on the first seminar. That will be $30,000 in revenue – extremely profitable even with the broken ankle.

What it shows me is that even if you abuse this system, it still works. I can hardly imagine what kind of results I would have had by now if I had been able to do May and June seminars!  It is a resilient system that is structured to survive. This has been a very pleasant and amazing surprise. This system is like a rocket ship. This is a golden door for guys that are just plodding along."

"I have been with Randall Marketing Group now for over two years and whatever hurdle I have faced they have been there to help me overcome that hurdle. I read all the great testimonials about the seminar results - and they are wonderful to read.  What I don't see if feedback on the consultations.   

I love the simplicity of Craig's consultation approach -and it works! The "professional" approach from my CFP training really missed the mark. Although I would never trade the knowledge I received, I was missing the technique and phrases to properly communicate - and motivate -my prospects.  Craig's method achieves all the key points - it builds relationship, credibility, trust and a motivation to take action.   

What has humbled me is that I know taxes fairly well - and yet I used very little of that knowledge to gain credibility with the prospect.  The process of going through the tax return certainly sets me apart from everyone else AND it makes me look like a nice guy since I take the time to show them this information.  

So many of the steps are so simple, I originally failed to see their value.  In the first meeting, showing my credibility; then finding "issues"; then offering to do research on those items. Who wouldn't take you up on that? And they do -almost always setting the 2nd appointment.  And keeping their stuff - brilliant  So much for no-shows for the 2nd appointment!  And though it seemed quite brazen-and scary- at first, I now think they see it as a continuation of the professionalism and trust I have been building. The review of their investments in meeting 2 also appears simplistic - but it sets them up to vividly see how they could be doing better.  And the close - "We found some issues; do you want me to help you fix them?"  C'mon, I thought that would never work.  But it appears to be the perfect culmination to all the trust and credibility we have built and the issues we have found.   

And the attitude that Craig encouraged has had a huge impact for me.  I now go in with a renewed emphasis on how I can help them, not me. Or as Zig Ziglar has said, "I can have anything in life I want, as long as I help enough people get what they want." This has taken my mind completely off product and placed it on solving their issues.

"Hi Clyde, Well now I am excited!! Just completed the last of 3 seminars last night at Buca Di Beppo Restaurant and I think for my first attempt it went extremely well, just like you said it would. I had a total of 98 people attend with 62 buying units. Right now I have 36 booked appointments with another 19 that want to see me but will book a time when they return from summer vacations. I would not be surprised if I book at least another 10 within a month. So first attempt 58% which will grow to 74%. The guests loved the presentation and most said it was the best they have seen. My assistant did a great job, he followed Michaels details on the CD exactly, and it worked very well. We both agreed we will get better as we go along. "Hello Clyde - I thought you might appreciate a brief update - feel free to share if you want.  I started the seminars in Feb/March, did another series end of April, and just finished the third series of three today.   The first two series we set appointments with about 60-65 of the attendees and were pretty happy with that.  The series we finished today had the following results from buying units attending:  8 of 12 Tuesday, 8 of 9 Wednesday and 12 of 14 today - that works out to exactly 80 % -  to say we're pumped would be a big understatement - why did it improve so much?  I think one big factor is the smaller crowd this time - we had 19 people on Tuesday, 15 Wednesday, and 24 today - I definitely was able to connect better that with the big crowds.  The other factor I think is that we're just getting better at it, both me and Steve my assistant.  Also, though we've been writing some business from the beginning, we're doing much better of late (since I attended the mastery course in April - I believe this really helped me a lot).  We've written $29,000 in commissions from our April seminars and I really believe we'll end up with $40,000 plus just from that group before we're finished.  Bottom line, as we've all heard many times - Craig's system works if we just follow it - I'm continually amazed at how well thought out each piece of this system is - Craig you're a genius.  Also, it's such a great feeling to have everyone coming to the office for the appointments and treating you as a professional.  Just wanted to update you and say thanks to Craig, Clyde, Susie and all the others who help with this system."

I have had a hard time adjusting but I know the value of the Randall system, it is the best I have seen.  I try it my way and it usually works but when I try it Craig's way it works remarkably well.  Each time I work it the way it is taught it works so much better than when I try to do it the old fashioned sales way. Thank God for Bessa she is new in the business and does not have the old habits to unlearn and she coaches me each time as I become "Randallized".  We have had good results and get better each time. I have just qualified for the American Equity trip to Cancun and today had over $400,000 in premium issued. We are selling life insurance and the service at Indy Life is great. Well today is the start of a three seminar week and I am excited. I sold a $150,000 annuity to a client that I know I would not have gotten with out Randall training. This guy was very sophisticated and he was not going to be sold, but he did like me and as a result of three interviews and relationship building I was fortunate to earn $15,000.00 and make a new friend. I feel better about my business than I have ever felt, and I have dignity and professionalism as a result. My thanks to you and Craig and Susie. By the way the mailings are working wonderfully well. This month we mailed 7,500 and we have a total of 96 people attending our three seminars. What a combination: Seminar crowds, Randall marketing, AIP and of course Bob, Bessa and Debra. Part 1

"Clyde, the appointments have been going well.  I believe I have done 14 so far. The first 14 that scheduled all showed up!  We did have two cancellations of the original 49, but those were for next week. (The closer you do the appt to the seminar, the better, right?) On the appointments, one

of the guys was doing it just right and I told him so. The look of shock on his face was worth the price!  Of the remaining 13, one lady was destitute with no income or assets.  The remaining 12 all scheduled 2nd appointments with me in the next few days.  These 12 had combined assets of approximately

3.5 million and all seemed eager.  I am working the files right now to do the recommendations and am beginning to understand the value of this system. When they realize that you really do have lots of others to see, it changes their perception in a big way.  Jennifer knocks on my door at exactly 5

minutes till the hour to remind me that "your 11:00 is here". So far, each client has been very respectful and seemed to genuinely appreciate my approach.  I have not even begun to think about product yet. I am working on that tonight as I analyze each file.  

Here is one thing that Craig didn't mention at Boot Camp.  This is a lot of work.  The days are flying by and I barely have time to turn around before there is another client right in front of me.  The system keeps you busy,and the system keeps you disciplined.  If you follow the system as prescribed, you cannot help but gain discipline.  I  have found myself really engaging these folks who are trusting me with an hour of their lives. I love the stories, attitudes, and experiences that I am gaining from my new

prospects.  At the end of the day, I feel like I have gained more from them than they have from me.

Part 2

"Tonight we were booked full with 50 and were assuming 20% would drop out.  When the rain storms hit here it was certain that even more might drop out.  Fortunately and unfortunately I was wrong. We had 42 people show up representing 23 buying units.  We set 15 appointments on first call and an additional 3 on the walk through. Though it is pure speculation as to the outcome, the last one I set mentioned that his assets were in the millions!  That kind of talk doesn't really move me either way, but it was interesting to hear from this guy, especially since he was TOTALLY NEGATIVE when he was first seated.  One of my friends in the audience overheard him saying stuff to his guest about "not filling out anything, these guys just want to get your Medicare benefits". (not sure what that means exactly)  By the end of the evening, his guest had revealed her life story to me (last ones in the room) and he too had shared lots of information that led to the appointments. You never know how these things turn out, but I had more fun tonight than I can ever remember in 23 years of business.

"We mailed our first mailers on Jan 25th and we filled the room for 3 seminars of 40 each in 2 days and have a waiting list of 26...The cancellations and waiting list have all been handled and the system is great. We did our first seminar on Tuesday and had 18 buying units and set 11 appointments...I called the next morning and only lost one...The second seminar we had 17 buying units and set 13 appointments. "I have been doing seminars for 3.5 years and consistently book 55-60% at the seminar, therefore, I was reluctant to change. However, after hearing the stories I committed to learning the new seminar. I spent at least 25 hours practicing Craig's seminar so I would be sure to succeed. My first night I booked only 5 out of 14 (35%). I was crushed!  I thought to myself this doesn't work because I knew the material. However, I couldn't quit because I knew all those stories couldn't be false. At this point my competitive side got ticked off because I knew all those people who booked 75% or more were not that much better than me, so I began to analyze the night. I said to myself, I knew the material inside and out. I did it just like Craig. And then it hit me, I stood up there and yelled at those old people. "This weekend I attended the second RMG boot camp training.  This one covered how Craig does his first and second appointment.  I have got to tell you that I have never seen anything more impressive in the past thirty years.  After watching him I can see how this guy is one of the nation's top producers.  To me what is so exciting is that it appears to be very transferable.  In other words it is something I can see myself doing.  His whole approach is building relationship with his clients and gaining their trust.  His attitude is that after he does this then the business just comes.  He never closes, he never uses pressure, if a client says "I want to think it over" (which rarely happens) his answer is "ok".  His whole system is very simple.  He uses just a few EIAs and a limited amount of the best performing mutual funds.  He sees seven or eight people a day. 

What is great about the boot camp is that instead of him telling you what he does, he shows you.  All day Friday he went through his philosophy and approach.  Then all day on Saturday he role-played with different attendees.  (Prior he had invited anyone who wanted to to bring in case info.)  The attendee played the client and he did what he does.  Guys were throwing really difficult stuff at him and he just handled it as easy as anything.  He was completely bullet proof and you could see that the approach he used would be totally effective.  Everyone (about 26 experienced annuity producers) were just amazed. 

If you have ever valued my opinion on anything I would strongly recommend that you book your attendance at one of the upcoming boot camps and just do this thing.  You will be thanking me for the next ten years."

"Hello Clyde and Craig:

    Since joining RMG I have thought a great deal about my past experiences in financial services and how so far, RMG appears different.

     In short, I believe the biggest issue I face is a "loss of confidence" in myself due to the poor experiences and just plain bad advice I've been given in this field in the 4 years I've been in financial services.  No one tells people to expect a 30% drop off in appointments.  No one tells you that the first piece of business is THE HARDEST to obtain.  Too many tell you that you should "go for all the assets."   No one tells us that even if you present things correctly to a prospect, some will not become clients.  Too few tell you that it will take 3-4 months of steady marketing to get over the initial hump. 

    In other words, I believe the profession is rife with unrealistic and just plain wrong expectations which continue to be communicated a gospel (small "g") to wave after wave of advisors.  The result is to create a disconnect between expectation and experience.  When we inquire about the experience that falls short of our expectation we are told, "it must be you... because so and so did it this way and he is successful. 

     What am I rambling about?  My appreciation of the truth of expectations you give to us.  You DO tell us that you need to book 40-50 appointments because 30% will drop off and then half of those will have no money and that we will probably get about half of those remaining....that is if we make the decision easy for the prospect which means offering to fix a relatively small, easy to digest piece of first business we will begin to be successful. 

      The kernel of this teaching is the core of what keeps me in there fighting.  I realized, after the Advanced Boot camp I attended that I was beginning to doubt myself...the first time in my life.  I've been to Law school and Medical school, completed triathlons, marathons, taken up the piano as an adult.  I am no stranger to challenge.  But because of the bad advice, false expectations I had been led to expect, I was beginning to doubt myself. 

      I share all this to give you an insight into how vitally important, to me at least,  is the sharing  of real expectations is for us so we can ACCURATELY gauge what the real world of getting new clients is really like.  And, this from someone who is actually in the trenches with us...not someone who is merely running a marketing organization and who has not seen the business end of a client appointment since the Nixon administration. 

     Please continue to share these "real world" truths as they help us help ourselves and help us know what works. And maybe most of all continue to teach that the core of what we do is to serve and to help.   Hope this makes sense,"

"R.M.G. producers,

     I have been in this business for several years, making a descent living, when I heard about another mailing company.  I had received yet another one of "those" mailers.  You know, the head hunting kind. if you are interested contact Clyde Cleveland.  Clyde Cleveland?  Is that name for real?

    I called the number and spoke with Mr. Cleveland and yes that is his real name.

To say that Clyde had just a little passion about this program might be a slight under- statement. Well, twenty minutes later I knew about the program... and then some.  I could have sworn I heard him take a breath at least twice during that time. I asked what the next step was and he replied that there was a boot camp.  A guy named Craig Randall would be conducting the boot camp.  I'm wondering, who is Craig Randall?  I again asked Clyde and ten minutes later I knew all about Craig Randall. 

     I am on my way to the first boot camp, in California, cost $5,000.00, thinking this is going to be another one of those "go out and do as I say" kinda' things.  In a very short time I was pleased to learn that this was a "this is exactly how and what I am doing now boot camp."  How refreshing, a man walking his talk.

     I was about to put all of this knowledge in action when I encountered a health issue and was unable to start.  They could have said "call us when you're ready".  Instead I was invited to attend boot camps and keep learning until I got better.  Time dragged on.  Not once was there a word mentioned about a dollar quota, but rather a "how are you feeling" attitude.  Not once was there a mention of "if you don't start working we will find someone else."  At one camp Clyde looked at me saying "you're not looking so well" and I replied that I wasn't.  He gave me the key to his room and said, "go up and rest and see how you feel after lunch."  There was never an issue about production, only sincere concern for how I was feeling.

     I would be remiss if I did not speak about the other half of seminar crowds/ RMG.  Susie Bryant Zolo. Has anybody ever been greeted by or spoken to by Susie and ever heard an unkind word?  Ever been greeted without a sincere warm smile?  Ever have Susie not look you in the eyes when she speaks with you?  Ever not have her go the extra, extra yard for you.  Ever have her not go out of her way to help or find someone that was able to assist? If there is, I would not like to meet them for they are not telling the truth. 

    Seminar Crowds/RMG is Susie Bryant Zolo and Clyde Cleveland.  They have always treated the producers in a first class manner and conduct themselves in a way like no other NMO that I have dealt with. They have now given us a way to help a client with a program in which money can be put under management and we get paid creating an income stream, probably for retirement for many of us, without having to do all that mind boggling paper work.  Now we can offer a full spectrum of programs to help our clients. Not only that but there is basically 24 hours of training and coaching.  Clyde even gives out his cell number.  (Mrs. Cleveland has got to love that one.) Talk about commitment to a passion!  

      As soon as I get my 65 I look forward to doing my first series of seminars.  Yes that's right, I said first!  They have helped me for two years asking nothing in return.  To quote a fairly well known person, "How good is that?"

     In closing I would like to add that at the boot camps I have attended I have yet to meet any producer there that isn't capable of generating at least 25% (income) of what Craig does, myself included. I know, for me, this program is so duplicable.  What a great way to be able to help people.  I shall be ever grateful to Susie and Clyde and look forward doing business with a people company I respect rather than a numbers company.  See you at the April boot camp. Back to the books!!
